I've had a favorite dish at The Olive Garden for a couple of years now. Steak Gorgonzola Alfredo. Yum. Double Yum. Oh, soooo good! If I could, I would eat it every day, but you know how that goes. Damage to the budget, damage to the waistline. Whatever - it's delicious. Last week I was making a menu plan, which is something that I wish I did more often, and I added this dish to the menu. I've tried to make it before on my own and it flopped, but this time I did my research. One of my favorite things about the internet is the ability to find anything you want. This meal was no exception. I found several links that detailed the recipe, if you do a google search you will find the same. I needed to take it a step further though. As I do with most recipes, I tweeked it to suit my needs for our family. In this case it meant making my own alfredo sauce (easy AND tastier), using stew meat instead of super-expensive steak (also easy), and then following the fundamental parts of the recipe to arrive at a supurb outcome. Earlier in the week I had roasted some tomatoes that had been given to our family by a neighbor, so when I found the recipe, I was pleasantly surprised to see 'sun-dried-tomatoes' on the ingredient list. I was also plesantly surprised during my trip to Costco to find that a wedge of Gorgonzola Cheese was very inexpensive. Though it gave me way more than I needed, it will keep for a long time in the fridge. I was also not-so-plesantly surprised to realize that I had somehow forgotten to pick up a package of frozen spinach, a discovery that was only made after I had started cooking the sauce. Thank-goodness I had a friend who was willing to give me a package of spinach from her freezer. Haha! A little different than "can I borrow a cup of flour?", it worked just the same.
Below I have written out the ingredients, instructions and details of how to make this delectible dish family-friendly-style. You may click on the link or on the title of this post for a printable version complete with the Olive-Garden font. (I know, sometimes I just amaze myself!) Until then, Good Living!
